I gave Mitchell this funny little book a few years ago for some valentine's day or anniversary or another and we have had so much fun filling it out since! It is a 113 page book fun of questions you and your loved one can fill out and laugh at each others answers. We haven't finished filling it out yet because every time we start I have so much fun I make us stop after a few pages so we have more to do later! Here are some questions and our answers:

What would you like to outlaw in your relationship?
Mitchell: crying
Julie: cell phones

What is happiness?
Mitchell: no worries
Julie: chickens, pizza, Mitchell, my mom, cats

Thing or person you would like to be in your next life
Mitchell: pro-athlete (quarterback for the SF 49ers)
Julie: Penguin

First Editions

I have a friend who collects first editions of Fitzgerald books. He looks on eBay for good deals and eventually wants to collect them all (although The Great Gatsby is going to be a tough one to find). I love this idea, of collecting the very first print from an author you love and having such a beautiful collection!

I did a little searching myself and found these amazingly cool first editions of Jane Eyre and Wuthering Heights by Charlotte and Emily Bronte I would just kill to have. I won't break your heart with the prices but lets just say I won't be adding these to my collection anytime soon.

This gorgeous set below is the complete works of Jane Austen and while I am partial to the Bronte sisters books (Maybe because I can relate to the big amount of crazy in their stories?), what girl doesn't like a good, old-fashioned, Jane Austen love story? I would definitely take one or two (or all) of these beautiful first editions to display on my bookshelf.

Does anyone have a collection like this? What authors would you collect if you did?
I need some ideas!

Library Love

I am mildly (okay, insanely) obsessed with libraries. Walking into a library is like walking into a church for me, I love that everyone is quiet and respectful and you can get so much done! For a long time I bought all my books but reading a book a week gets expensive! Now I get a stack of books from the library, read as many as I can, and buy only the ones I love.

But I do have a confession to make, I have five different library cards for five different libraries in five completely different counties. I have a strong attachment to each library I get to know so even after I am gone, I can't bear to part with my library card.  I still carry around my San Diego card and I haven't lived there for 2 years.

Strange, right?

Someday I want to have walls full of bookshelves in my house, full of all my favorite books I have collected. Ideally I want a whole room devoted to a library full of books but I am willing to compromise, maybe an office/library? Right now I am drooling over these two from Covet Garden and Design Sponge. The first one inspires me to update my dream library to include a ladder and the second one is so clever I don't know why everyone with stairs doesn't have this done.

Happy Friday everyone, have a wonderful weekend! I am going to hopefully get started on my terrarium this weekend, I'll post pictures next week!

I Like You

The picture above is of a sweet little book called, "I Like You" by Sandol Stoddard Warburg. Mitchell gave me a copy last year on a trip to Santa Barbara and it is now one of my all time books. It is a perfect present for anyone, friends, family or anyone else you love because it describes all the things that make us like each other. Every page in the book is quote-worthy but these lines are my favorite:

I like you because I don't know why but everything that happens is nicer with you.
I can't remember when I didn't like you...It must have been lonesome then.

{and}

When I say something funny
You laugh
I think I'm funny and you think I'm funny too
Hah-hah
