Library Love

Friday, March 4, 2011

I am mildly (okay, insanely) obsessed with libraries. Walking into a library is like walking into a church for me, I love that everyone is quiet and respectful and you can get so much done! For a long time I bought all my books but reading a book a week gets expensive! Now I get a stack of books from the library, read as many as I can, and buy only the ones I love.

But I do have a confession to make, I have five different library cards for five different libraries in five completely different counties. I have a strong attachment to each library I get to know so even after I am gone, I can't bear to part with my library card.  I still carry around my San Diego card and I haven't lived there for 2 years.

Strange, right?

Someday I want to have walls full of bookshelves in my house, full of all my favorite books I have collected. Ideally I want a whole room devoted to a library full of books but I am willing to compromise, maybe an office/library? Right now I am drooling over these two from Covet Garden and Design Sponge. The first one inspires me to update my dream library to include a ladder and the second one is so clever I don't know why everyone with stairs doesn't have this done.

Happy Friday everyone, have a wonderful weekend! I am going to hopefully get started on my terrarium this weekend, I'll post pictures next week!

I'm obsessed with books and dream of having a beautiful library one day too! I used to go to this small library in a cozy neighborhood of SF (on Sunset blvd) and that summer, I probably read around 10 books! I love everything about books!

Happy weekend!

@Erika: Ron White is hilarious! Lucky you for seeing him in live!

@Julie: Yeah book-worms unite!! To have a library in my very own home has been my life-long dream as well! *picture me giving you a high five* lol. My parents had a mini-library full of old books, and I am slowly working on my own. If only books were not so spendy! So I do the same as you, I am blessed to live only a block away from my library :) lucky me. I loved this post, I dig it!

Oh my word... that first one is insanely awesome! I'm the sort of person that reads a book once and doesn't usually read it again (unless it was REALLY good), but even so I want to have a really awesome library like these someday.

thanks for following my blog! following you back ;)

I am the same way with books...I just moved back to NC and can't get another library book until I change licenses. I can't bring myself to buy a book unless its got a pretty cover or is a life changing book. Thank goodness for libraries!! ;)

Hope you have a great weekend!!

Tamuna: I want to know what library, I am in SF all the time!

Day-Dreaming: I love collecting old books, I have a lot from antique stores, if you aren't picky about the book or minor wear and tear there are great deals out there! I wish I could walk to my library, you are lucky!

Lenanna: I know how you feel! I never reread books unless they are insanely good but I like having my favorites just to look at :)

Leslie: I just finished Water for Elephants and it was good, I am excited to see if the movie will live up to the book! Now I am re-reading Jane Ere because I love all things Bronte sisters :)

I love the home library pictures you posted - the one with the ladder is definitely a dream house picture and the books on the side of the stair case is such a cute idea! I am reading Jane Eyre right now, too - what a coincidence! I am looking forward to seeing the movie when it comes out. :)

Do you live within walking distance to downtown Campbell? I know there is a great little library right in downtown!

Awe, this entry brought back memories. My mom used to take me and my brothers to the library nearly every weekend. I love books.

I have a small collection of children's books I plan on turning into a nursery library whenever I have kids.

About Last Weekend said...

Hi there, have been obsessed with books and libraries since I was a kid. Librarians are the most interested and resourceful people I know. Give them a subject and they will hunt it down. When I was a kid (Ohope Beach, NZ) on Friday night we would buy a block of chocolate and head to the library. Love these images and now wish maybe I had made room for a bookshelf in our re-model...Have a great weekend!
